The commute problem
The distance is not the problem. The way we cover it is.
Thousands of office-goers move down the Western corridor every morning and back every evening. Everyone has their own workaround — an early train, a long drive, a cab on the days it is affordable. Almost nobody would call it comfortable.
The peak-hour crush
Standing shoulder to shoulder for an hour is not a commute, it is an endurance test. Most corridor commuters do it twice a day, five days a week.
Hours that quietly disappear
Borivali to Lower Parel and back is not a trip, it is a second shift. That time comes out of sleep, family and everything else in the day.
One person, one car
Driving alone buys comfort and costs road space. Every solo car on the Western Express Highway at 9 am adds to the queue that everyone is sitting in.
Arriving already spent
The worst part is not the distance, it is starting the workday with nothing left in the tank — and doing the whole thing again at 7 pm.
Why we’re doing this
A movement built by commuters, for commuters.
Better Commute Mumbai did not start in a boardroom. It started with the same 6 am alarm and the same guess about arrival time that half this city makes every morning. We think the people living a problem should have a say in solving it.
Led by the corridor, not a company
Every question in our survey comes from a commute someone on this team actually makes — not a strategy deck written far from the Western Express Highway.
Demand first, decisions later
We are not selling a route today. We want real commute patterns to tell us where a shared commute genuinely makes sense before a single vehicle is booked.
A fairer ride for everyone
A guaranteed seat and a predictable arrival time should not be a luxury reserved for whoever can afford a private cab every single day.
Potential solutions
Ideas on the table, shaped by your answers.
None of this is confirmed. These are the shared-commute formats we think are worth testing first on the Western corridor — and the survey tells us which one deserves to go first.
Shared shuttle circles
A small, fixed group from nearby pickup points sharing one comfortable vehicle — same seats, same faces, every working day.
Timing built around office hours
Departures mapped to when corridor offices actually start and end, instead of a public-transit timetable borrowed from somewhere else.
Corporate & campus partnerships
Pooling demand across office parks and business campuses that already share a gate, a shift, and the same commute headache.
One corridor, proven first
Every idea gets tested on the Western corridor before it goes anywhere else. Prove it once, properly, then look at expanding.
Take two minutes. Change the commute.
A better commute starts with knowing who needs one.
If you travel this corridor for work, your commute is a data point that shapes what gets tested first. Nothing to pay, nothing to commit to — just two minutes and an honest answer.
